The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) is strengthening its backing for Prostate Cancer UK’s Big Golf Race. The aim is to get over 100 members across the UK to pledge free multi-round fourball tee times. This will make it easier for golfers to conquer the 36, 72, or 100-hole challenge at their clubs.

Golfing availability is a key barrier. Over 50% of participants last year couldn’t complete the challenge due to a lack of multi-round tee times. To address this, PGA professionals will be added to Prostate Cancer UK’s “club finder” tool. This will showcase golf clubs happy to accommodate the single-day challenge.

Prostate Cancer UK is the PGA’s official charity partner since 2017. Together, they aim to make the Big Golf Race even bigger this year. The goal is for golfers to raise £1.6 million to save men’s lives.

“The PGA is incredibly proud to continue its support,” said Robert Maxfield, Chief Executive of The PGA. “We thank members who have agreed to offer tee times to Big Golf Race participants.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Golfers are encouraged to get friends together, choose a course and date, and get sponsored. Since 2020, over 11,500 golfers have raised £3.4 million.

“This is another fine example of the golf community coming together,” said Seren Evans of Prostate Cancer UK. “PGA members’ multi-round tee time pledges will increase access and encourage more golfers to help fund vital research.”

PGA professionals can make multiple pledges. Those willing can complete the PGA member pledge form to have their course featured on the Prostate Cancer UK “club finder” website.

The PGA joins other industry leaders in supporting the Big Golf Race. The UK Golf Federation, the British Golf Industry Association, and HowDidiDo are also backing golfers taking part across the country this summer.

Golfers can find more information, FAQs, and contact details for the PGA team on the member pledge campaign website. By working together, the golf community can make a real difference in the fight against prostate cancer.
