Woods Shifts Focus to Major Comeback After Masters Struggle

Tiger Woods immediately shifted his focus to the season’s remaining majors after enlisting his son Charlie’s help before his 100th round in the Masters. Despite a demoralizing third-round 82, the 15-time major champion remained determined to bounce back.

Charlie was spotted seemingly offering his father some swing tips on the practice range at Augusta National. Even a seasoned veteran like Woods could have benefited from this advice following his worst Masters score by four shots.

Woods started strongly, with a 360-yard drive on the par-five second hole setting up a straightforward birdie. However, a bogey on the third and a triple-bogey seven on the fifth put him in a difficult position.

The fifth hole proved particularly challenging, as a wild drive into the trees resulted in an unplayable lie, forcing Woods to return to the tee and hit another ball. This setback led to a triple-bogey seven.

Woods refused to give up

Despite the struggles, Woods refused to give up. He covered the back nine in 37 to return a closing 77, a performance that was still five shots worse than playing partner Neal Shipley, the only amateur to make the cut.

Woods had previously stated his plan to play one tournament per month this year, with the remaining majors – the US PGA, US Open, and Open Championship – firmly in his sights. He acknowledged the need to do his “homework” on the upcoming venues, as he has heard about changes at the next couple of sites.

Despite finishing last of the 60 players to make the weekend, Woods did achieve a record 24th consecutive cut. He remained positive about the experience, stating, “It was a good week all around.”

The former world number one recognized that it doesn’t take much to get out of position at Augusta National, and he was unable to produce the round he believed he had in his system. However, his determination to bounce back and focus on the remaining majors demonstrates his unwavering commitment to the sport.
